◎慈濟大學邀請國美國國家工程學院院士廖俊智12月14日到21日蒞校訪問，廖俊智院士於12月17日至19日分別以「代謝2.0: 能源及醫學領域內的土地重劃｣、「學思歷程演講｣、「大師傳習｣三場演講與慈大師生分享。
◎生命科學系李政偉教授分子腫瘤實驗室團隊與花蓮慈濟醫學中心耳鼻喉科合作，針對下咽癌進行研究，發現了攝護腺凋亡反應蛋白-4 (prostate apoptosis response-4 , Par-4)可做為下咽癌治療成效的一項預後因子，這是全球首次針對Par-4在下咽癌的影響，而此項研究成果亦榮登於病理學領域頂尖學術期刊 The American Journal of Pathology (2014)。
◎馬來西亞12月底連日來的季風豪雨，造成積水難退，預計已有超過十六萬人受災，災區面積包括馬來西亞八個州，慈濟大學馬來西亞籍的國際學生有64位，2014年國際災難不斷，國際事務中心舉辦祈福會(12/30)，為馬來西亞祈福外，也希望明年天下無災，人心平安。
◎慈大自今年3月起承擔佳民村的家訪關懷，職志合一的同仁們不但是每個月去關心，也邀請學生一起加入訪視的行列，而在家訪的過程中，發現很多正在就讀佳民國小的小朋友課業上需要協助，因此，這學期由人發系陳畹蘭老師「助人技巧｣學生每星期三到佳民國小進行課輔。

The core value of Tzu Chi spirit is benevolence. In 1966, when mainland China started the Cultural Revolution that led to ten years of bloody chaos, the Tzu Chi Charity Group was founded by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Taiwan, with 30 women followers started contributing the pennies they saved every day to the cause of charity. Now, actively functioning in 85 countries, millions of Tzu Chi members engaged in all kinds of humanistic and humanitarian work still gratefully remember the origin of the group out of the great compassion of Master Cheng Yen 48 years ago.
